Remy Martin Forgoes Draft, Joins Jayhawks

On Tuesday, Kansas Basketball finally solidified their roster for the 2021-22 season. After hearing that leading scorer Ochai Agbaji would be returning to Kansas for his senior season, the team got more good news after Arizona State transfer guard Remy Martin announced he would be returning to school for one more year to play at Kansas.

A 6’0” 175-pound point guard, Martin has been All-Pac 12 three times, including two first team appearances in 2020 and 2021. Last season, Martin averaged 19.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.3 steals.

With Martin coming to Lawrence, the Jayhawks should undoubtedly be a top three team in the nation to start the year. In addition to Martin, the Jayhawks have over 70 percent of their scoring and four of the five starters from last year’s roster returning.

Martin is just one of a multitude of transfers and newcomers joining the Jayhawks in 2021.

The college basketball season is set to tip off for the Jayhawks Nov. 3 (exhibition) in Lawrence. Kansas will host Emporia State. The team will then open the regular season on Nov. 9 against Michigan State in the Champion’s Classic. Their first official home game will be on Nov. 12 against Tarleton St. | TICKETS
