In his first year as Kansas Football head coach, David Beaty is constantly in search of inspiration for a his as they labor through a season which may result in zero wins.
Lately, the Kansas City Royals have provided the type of example worthy of use for a team which goes into each and every game as the underdog.
Following a World Series appearance a year ago, the Royals were picked to finish third in the American League Central this season and given little respect from what they had accomplished the previous year.
Not only did the Royals win their division, they completely dominated their counterparts and coasted into the postseason.
One month later, the World Series championship was one and headed back to Kansas City.
The team headed up by manager Ned Yost consistently maintained an attitude of never quit, never die, and stay relentless each and every day.
Kansas Football can take something away from that.
Regardless of who says what about you, how little respect you garner, or how bad you may be, you never give up and you never quit, and that is something Beaty and his staff will continue to hammer home throughout the remainder of this season and into the future of the program.
KU has a long ways to go before it can be considered a true contender in the Big 12. Seemingly, the only chance that Kansas has of bring home wins are its three non-conference games, and annual match ups with the likes of Kansas State and Iowa State.
Until Beaty and his staff are able to build a solid recruiting foundation and bring in the type of talent which is capable of fitting into their ‘Air Raid’ system, Kansas will look for the little improvements and the intangibles to build on for the future.
